The second edition of the Lab Boat event has set sail again on 4th may, with the purpose of involving middle and high school students in scientific labs and lessons during the circumnavigation of Sardinia on the Adriatica sailing ship. This “Adriatica” is the same 21m long sailboat become famous in the popular tv show “velisti per caso”. The event is set up by the Sardinian research institute CRS4, with the collaboration of sardinian universities, INFN and INAF. The navigation has scheduled stops in which it will take on board different groups of local high school students, this year the stops will be in Oristano, Carloforte and Cagliari. The Centro Fermi is also contributing to the event by providing two portable cosmic ray detectors (Cosmic Box) of the EEE experiment. Two INFN Cagliari researchers, associated with the Centro Fermi, will explain the aim of the EEE Project, the cosmic ray research and the open questions to face. The lessons will be given both in port and offshore, and will include the basics of cosmic radiation and of detector principles and operation so that students will be able to perform some measurements of muon flux during the navigation.
