Maintenance of a telescope
Maintenance of a telescope

From April 24th to 28th/2017 the Liceo Scientifico has realized his scientific dream: building MRPC chambers for the cosmic rays telescope from the EEE project. The students delegation chosen by the school is constituted by 4 guys from the 3th classes: Affatato Giovanni, Salatino Gennaro, Adamciuc Daria and Lio Maria Josephin accompanied by the professor Domenico Liguori. This type of stage represents a complete educational experience. Both for the skills and abilities that are acquired in the laboratory and the ability to communicate in english language made compulsory by the internationality of the CERN work team. All the work steps have been widely documented with videos and pictures and made avaible on the facebook page “EEE liceo scientifico cariati”. Despite the tight rhythms because of the work in the laboratories, during the procedure there are also moments of personal experience exchanges with all the team members and the visits to other experiments like the amazing drop in the Alice cave. The realization of this detector is not a point of arrival, but of start. From the moment it will be assembled in the venue it will be monitored and let running 24h per a day on all days so all the interested students will be able to participate actively organizing real work teams. In this project the students from Cariati high school “Patrizi” are and will be constantly followed by the leaders from the Roma Centro Fermi, and by the CERN researches, from the INFN and from the UNICAL physics department with which we will constantly interact together with other students and teachers of the involved schools. For this beautiful experience that will remain indelible in the emotional baggage of the memories and of the professional experiences thanks to prof. Zichichi who designed this mixing formula didactically winning between the research world and the school world, the Centro Fermi president and director prof. Cifarelli, and Nania, the national coordinator of the EEE project, Abbrescia, our tutor, and prof. Schioppa and also all the work team that has guided the students in the CERN laboratories (Despina, Roman, Ivan, Susanna, Francesca, Zheng ed Osnan).
