The inauguration of the “Cosmic Ray Station,” a web portal dedicated to monitoring cosmic ray flux detected by the MRPC telescope at the school, took place in Bari on March 22 in the main hall of Liceo Scientifico “A. Scacchi.” The event was attended by, among others, EEE National Coordinator Prof. Marcello Abbrescia and academic and research authorities. The portal, modeled on international monitoring stations and Italy’s first of its kind in a school setting, represents a bold, innovative bridge between academic research and high school education. Its activation marks the conclusion of the 2014 MIUR-funded “Cosmic Scouts” project, aimed at promoting modern physics among youth; it highlights the valuable cosmic ray detector built by our students at CERN and installed at the school through Centro Fermi support and Extreme Energy Events collaboration.

The portal was developed by Dr. Nicola De Filippis of Politecnico di Bari and is accessible at: http://serverps.liceoscacchibari.it/cosmicscouts.html http://bari.repubblica.it/cronaca/2016/03/23/news/scacchi-136127147/.
