National Congress of Società Italiana di Fisica (SIF)

The National Congress of the Italian Physical Society (SIF)—founded at the end of the 19th century by the first director of the Department of Physics in Rome, then located in the historic building on Via Panisperna—brings together about 800 Italian physicists for a week of discussions and exchange. It represents a key moment for a cohesive scientific community that, despite the diversity of cultural interests arising from the wide range of fields encompassed by modern physics, gathers to share ideas, learn about each other’s research, and broaden its collective horizons.

After 25 years, the National Congress returns to Palermo, from September 22 to 26, 2025, hosted at the Teaching Complex of the University of Palermo Campus in Viale delle Scienze.
