“The Extreme Energy Events Project: students hunting for cosmic rays from the North Pole to Sicily pass through Cosenza! “, This is the title of the city conference that was held on December the 3rd at the Camera di Commercio of Cosenza. After the greetings of Prof. Carla Savaglio, school director of the Liceo G.B. Scorza , Dr. Giuseppe Politano in delegation from Camera di Commercio and Dr. Matilde Lanzino, council member for Education, the event was introduced by Prof. Franco Mollo from the Liceo Scorza. The meeting was focused on the PolarQuEEEst expedition and its first results explained by Dr. Marco Garbini, Dr. Francesco Noferini and Dr. Ombretta Pinazza in connection from CERN. The Centro Fermi researchers illustrated the mission and the measurements being presently performed with the POLA-01 detector, which, once returned from the Svalbard Islands circumnavigation, is now engaged in a series of cosmic rays flux measurements in Italy. The audience of 250 students, including a group of Australian students, in Cosenza for a cultural exchange program, had great appreciation for the meeting and in the following days performed themselves a set of measurements. The POLA-01 trip continued to Erice to meet the students attending the 9th Conference of Projects of the Centro Fermi – EEE Project.
